Florida Scrub Jay Gallery Update

scrub-jay

I have been slacking a little with my blog and website lately so I used this weekend to catch up with the both of them. I have been out in the field a lot lately and have taken quite a few photos that I will be adding to my site. So as I am updating most of my galleries over the next few days I will be spotlighting one of the photos in the updates on the blog.

The first gallery that I am updating is my Florida Scrub Jay Gallery I have been fortunate to get some really great photos of the Scrub Jays and I am highlighting my favorite photo above. I really like the colors and detail that I was able to capture, especially if you look close you can see the sand falling of the acorn.  I hope you enjoy the new photos and be sure to look for my other gallery updates.

Sandhill Crane Chicks

sc

I have been trying for over 2 years to get some good photos of Sandhill Crane Chicks and on this past Saturday my persistence paid off. On Friday my dad and I visited Lake Woodruff Wildlife Preserve to take some photos, unfortunately the fog was so heavy that even when we left around 10 a.m. we still could not get any of the photos that we were looking for. While we were there though we happened to see a Sandhill Crane couple and their 2 chicks, but they were in the fog and we were facing the sun. I was to say the least a little disappointed when we left and I almost decided to come back Friday afternoon. I ended coming back on Saturday morning to try my luck and hope that there would be no fog in the morning. On Saturday I got to Lake Woodruff early and started walking the trail to find the Cranes which did not take long.  Once again I was a little disappointed because the Cranes were not where I could get any good photos of them. I ended waiting and finally they came into an area where I was able to get these Photos of the Chicks. I would like to think that it was worth the 2 years of waiting.
